Rental guide

Before you reserve

Understand your booking, payment, return and deposit.

Reserve your dates

A rental lasts 3 to 14 days; a seller may ask for a longer minimum. You can choose a start date from 4 days to 90 days ahead, because the seller sends the piece 3 days before your rental starts. Before you pay you see the rental fee, the refundable deposit (up to R5,000) and the courier both ways: to you, and back to the seller.

When you pay

You pay the rental fee and both courier trips when you book. If the piece ships within the next week, you pay the deposit then too. Booked further ahead, the deposit is charged to your saved card 7 days before the seller ships, and we email you 2 days before that charge. If the charge doesn’t go through, you have 48 hours to pay with the link we send; after that the rental is cancelled as if you had cancelled it that day.

If you cancel

Fewer than 7 days75%
These percentages apply only to the rental fee. Your deposit and both courier trips are always refunded when you cancel.

Once the seller has sent the piece, the rental can’t be cancelled. A rental from a private offer you accepted can’t be cancelled online; contact Sharara if your plans change.

Return and deposit

We book the return courier for your end date. Pack the piece with everything it came with and hand it over by the end of the next day. Once it is back, the seller has 2 days to check it. If they raise no claim in that time, your whole deposit is refunded.

If there is a claim

If the seller raises a claim on your deposit, you can see their evidence and have 3 days to respond before Sharara decides it. If the courier hasn’t collected the piece 7 days after your return date, a claim for the whole deposit is raised automatically. If you may be late, contact Sharara from your rental.
